We’ve heard the phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child”, but it forgets that it also takes a village to uplift a mother. Generations of women passing down teething remedies; groups of mothers working alongside each other to get the clothes washed and the bread made while children played nearby; sisterhoods silently dedicated to the idea that no one does this alone. We’ve lost some of that, but the village remains.
Where once the women of the town would teach us the best cures for rashes, we now have online forums and comment sections. Where once mothers traveled together with laundry to the river, children trailing behind, we now have playdates while the dryer runs a load at home. And where once women sat around the kitchen as the stew simmered, sharing advice for temper tantrums, we now have friends swapping stories and struggles over a cup of coffee. In the last few years, connection has been more difficult than ever, especially for SAH parents. Our organization is the place where connections are made and the village makes a comeback. We are the place where mothers are not just recognized, but uplifted, supported, and engaged. Our club wants to connect with you. We want to connect you to other daytime parents. We want to connect you to the local community. In short, we want to help build your village. We would love to see you at one of our public events and show you all our club has to offer. Our table is wide and the seats are plenty–come sit with us! Sara Fowler MOMS Club of Warner Robins President
